Well, to answer this question, please allow me to reminisce and go back six years down memory lane.

I started my blog Merry Mommy May on March 9, 2015. (Wow! Come to think of it, it has been six long years na pala.) My very first blog post was entitled “What if I Can Do It?”. It was actually an encouragement post for myself because I had been wanting to start writing but I lack self-confidence. I remember what I said to myself then, “If you don’t start it now, then you will never have the courage to get it done.” This is how my very first blog post was born.

What motivated me to write?

At first, I just wanted to write an online journal of my day-to-day life. However, I found my life too boring to share so I thought of something interesting yet close to my heart – motherhood. It is something new to me because I was a first-time mom when I started blogging.

It is also a niche that I thought many will be able to relate to. Being a mom is a never ending adventure of hits and misses, I was hopeful that I will be able to share a lot of things because it will be a continuous learning journey for me and my (ambitiously thinking) readers and followers.

How did I finance my writing?

I am a working mommy but I did not want to spend on writing when I started. Honestly speaking, I did not allot a budget for my blog. I was still scared and still learning so spending was not an option that time. It was like testing waters at first. So I read and searched for online avenues where I can start my blogging journey. I found Blogger.com. It allows beginners like me to create their own account without paying any amount of money. It was perfect.

So going back to the question of how I became a blogger, the answer is simply because I wanted to inspire other people through the stories about my journey as a mom who tries to juggle and balance her time among family, work and leisure. Hence, Merry Mommy May’s tagline is “A slice from the life of a working mom and a wife – its craze, its class and all its spice.” I write with the hope that through the stories that I share, someone out there will gain some wisdom from my own experiences, struggles and victories.
