It’s been a year and a half since my life has been upended by the global pandemic.

All of a sudden, there was this change in my day-to-day life: from the long commutes across the city, meetings and meetups with friends or work colleagues, and the mad scramble to mall-wide sales, to the immobility and isolation of quarantining at home with my family, limiting the times when I venture out of our home for fear of getting infected.

From the excitement of new destinations I can explore, new fashions I can wear, and new people I can meet, I was left to contend with a drastically altered and simplified existence. I suddenly found myself within the four walls of my home, always clad in house wear for days on end (my heels and blazers relegated to the back of my closet), and with just my immediate family for company.

At some point, I came to realize that despite these radical shifts in my circumstances, life has to go on. I still need to work and earn money, my children still need to go to school and my household still needs to be managed to adjust to this new way of life.

The changed influencer

As an influencer, I also immediately felt the change in the air.  In contrast to the previous clamor for deets on the hottest events and trendiest spots, now there is the cry for help on how to manage this new normal.

Thankfully, I am able to take inspiration from my co-mommy influencers in BrandBuzz who have shifted their content to cater to the changing needs of today’s audiences.

The home is the place to be, especially with family

During the first anxious days of quarantine, I found being stuck at home to be stifling and static. However, just by browsing through my Instagram feed, I soon came to realize its limitless potential, especially when it comes to family time.

Mommy influencers Mary Nelfa (@maamshienelfa) and Lally Ruth Gonzales (@lallysreflections) showcased helpful tips on childcare which I shared with my extended family.

Apple Masiclat (@_mrs.appleyeverafter_) and Joyce Aldea (@iammommyjoyce) demonstrated how, with just some simple indulgences, such as a favorite snack or a yummy drink, time with kids can be a rewarding experience.

Kitchen mavens Dorry Lynn Tan (@moms.shot.out), Jean Ricamata (@ricamatajean), and Kaye Catral (@kayecatral) showed off their cooking skills by teaching cooking newbies some hacks to get them started in their culinary journey and equip them in preparing nutritious and delicious meals for their families.

Since moms do tend to give so much of themselves, Jean Lucero (@jeanneflucero), Belle Romero (@iammommabelle), Jing de Jesus (@mediamommanila), and Mitch Carvalho (@mitchteryosa) reminded their followers to also take care of themselves by embracing healthy habits.

Influencing for good

Far from the usual impression that influencers peddle an indulgent lifestyle with posts on luxury items or impractical habits, these mommy content creators have instead utilized their various platforms to help their audiences cope with the challenges of the new normal.  With their engaging and entertaining posts, they have imparted some inspiration and quite a lot of useful information that will help make the extended days of quarantine a bit easier for their followers.
